About this role

The Heavy Equipment Technician specializes in construction, forestry and material handling equipment. This role involves safe and efficient repair and maintenance of heavy equipment both on-site and at customer locations. Responsibilities include diagnosing electro-mechanical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring repairs meet high quality standards and customer satisfaction.

Work closely with customers to understand their needs and provide technical support for peak equipment performance. Diagnose and repair Liebherr’s Earth Moving Technology line, such as Material Handlers, Wheel Loaders, Excavators, and Bull Dozers. Troubleshoot machine error codes, mag grapple problems, and SCR system issues as necessary.

Operate independently in various climates and environments with a strong commitment to safety and attention to detail. Update service supervisor on job status and parts required. Maintain tool inventory on service truck and complete accurate warranty documentation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician (Field Service experience strongly preferred)
  • Provincially Recognized Heavy Equipment Certification an asset - 421A or Red Seal
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components
  • Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, component exchange, repair and warranty related activities
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and technical drawings
  • Effectively communicate detailed and complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Self-motivated with ability to work alone, unsupervised for extended periods of time
  • Fully proficient with computers and Microsoft Office suite

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and safely repair Liebherr’s Earth Moving Technology line of equipment such as Material Handlers, Tele handlers, Wheel Loaders, Excavators, Bull Dozers, Crawler Loaders
  • Perform major repairs including hydraulic pump replacements, hydraulic component replacement, engine replacement or engine repairs
  • Troubleshoot mag grapple problems, machine error codes as well as SCR system error codes and repair as necessary
  • Update service supervisor about job status, parts required etc.
  • Complete accurate and concise warranty documentation
  • Maintain tool inventory on service truck
  • Assemble new machines on site as per sales when necessary
  • Perform factory updates or modifications as required
