About this role
Wood is recruiting a Supply Chain Senior Manager to join the Technical organization, which comprises Supply Chain, Engineering, Process, Technical HSE, Quality & Assurance, and Project Control. The role reports directly to the Project Delivery Director – Europe and manages procurement for complex plants in Chemical, Petrochemical, Life Sciences, and Energy sectors. Position based at Milan office with travel in Italy and internationally.
The Supply Chain Senior Manager leads all aspects of purchasing materials, services, construction contracts, and post-award administration. Responsibilities include interfacing with Wood departments, customers, and external parties to coordinate supply chain from bill of quantities to purchase orders and contracts. Also handles material expediting, inspections, and construction contracts administration after award.
Direct reports include Head of Supply Chain for Spain, Head of Purchasing, and Head of Subcontracts, all based in Milan or Madrid offices. Serves as member of divisional Supply Chain Leadership Team and key business partner on Senior Leadership Team. Contributes to broader business strategy and performance.
Key focus on delivering value through efficiencies, eliminating waste, reducing costs, and implementing SCM improvement plans. Drives process enhancements, compliance, and common ways of working while developing supply chain teams. Acts as change agent supporting tendering, resource allocation, and performance management.
Requirements
- Leadership experience in supply chain for Chemical, Petrochemical, Life Sciences, or Energy industry projects
- Expertise in material purchasing, expediting, inspections, and construction contracting
- Knowledge of supply chain processes from scope definition through inquiry, purchase orders, and contract administration
- Ability to develop SCM strategies, category strategies, and improvement initiatives
- Proven track record in driving efficiencies, eliminating waste, and reducing costs across third-party spend
- Experience leading and developing supply chain teams with robust performance management
- Strong commitment to safe working practices and visible safety leadership
Responsibilities
- Manage procurement activities related to material purchasing, expediting, and inspections
- Oversee construction contracting for projects involving complex plants
- Lead purchasing of materials, services, and placement of construction contracts
- Administer contracts post award, including expediting, inspections, and construction contracts management
- Interface with departments, customers, and external parties to coordinate supply chain activities from bill of quantities to purchase orders
- Develop and implement Supply Chain Management improvement plans to drive efficiencies and reduce costs
- Provide strategic direction for the function and support business objectives
- Identify resource requirements, assign personnel, and implement performance management for teams
