This onsite role at the Uncle Sam, LA Plant provides technical expertise and leadership to implement asset integrity strategies. It focuses on long-term asset health to sustain gains and deliver value for site operational goals.

Serve as responsible SME for electrical infrastructure equipment, including protection and controls from final utilization voltage (480/600V) to high voltage (15/34.5/69/72/115/138/230kV), plus standby generation and steam turbine generators. Coordinate power system study activities and complete minor updates to power system models. Provide electrical engineering and reliability subject matter expertise to peers.

Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability personnel to monitor asset reliability and address issues. Collaborate with maintenance planning teams to develop asset strategies, pursue site consistency, and share best practices. Assist with supervision of field service contractors and ensure follow-up on test results.

Track site-specific downtime to identify improvement opportunities and utilize Root Cause Analysis for corrective actions. Identify maintenance process deficiencies and optimize PM/PdM activities to improve mean time between failures. Provide prioritized asset assessments supporting the 5-year capital planning process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, major in Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of related electrical engineering experience (Engineer II)
  • 4+ years of related electrical engineering experience and demonstrated leadership skills (Engineer III)
  • 8+ years of related electrical engineering experience (Engineer Senior)
  • Excellent written and communication skills and ability to interface with all levels of management
  • Ability to influence others with strong leadership qualities and team building
  • Working familiarity with RCM and FMEA
  • Eligible to be registered with the Association of Professional Engineers

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership to implement and execute asset integrity strategies
  • Serve as SME for electrical infrastructure equipment including protection and controls from 480/600V to 15/34.5/69/72/115/138/230kV and generators
  • Identify deficiencies in maintenance processes and develop sustainable improvements
  • Apply and optimize PM/PdM activities to drive improvement in asset mean time between failures
  • Track site specific downtime and utilize Root Cause Analysis to review failures and identify corrective actions
  • Collaborate with maintenance planning teams to develop asset strategies and share best practices
  • Conduct audits and inspections; coordinate power system study activities and complete minor updates to models
  • Review and authorize work permits; develop lock-out-tag-out plans
