About this role
NACG is seeking Excavator Operators to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region. NACG offers a combined rate of up to $58.16/hour with room for growth.
Operators will work at the Kearl site on a 14 x 14 schedule, including 12-hour days and nights, paid for 12 hours. Camp accommodation is provided, along with flights to and from Edmonton or Calgary, and bussing from Fort McMurray to site. Blended rates apply with no overtime at Kearl.
Join the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955, one of the largest IUOE locals in North America. Successful candidates become part of that union. Emphasize safety compliance, equipment checks, and hazard assessments in a production mining environment.
Operate various sizes of excavators, read stakes to place grade, and report issues promptly. Enjoy night shift premium, weekly pay, and benefits including medical, dental, and pension after 400 hours. Transportation and PPE are provided, bringing opportunities for future advancements.
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience operating excavators (870 or larger)
- Minimum one year experience in a mining atmosphere preferred
- Familiar and comfortable working in a production environment
- Able to excavate ditch slope and grade
- Able to follow instructions to ensure safe equipment operation
- Safety-first attitude
- Attentive and possess strong listening skills
- Proficient in English, both verbally and written
Responsibilities
- Operate various sizes and models of excavators as required to complete assigned work
- Read stakes and place a grade as needed
- Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies, operating standards and procedures
- Use adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE
- Review safe work plans and hazard assessments prior to job commencement and follow all requirements
- Complete equipment and area walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments
- Report any necessary or anticipated repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors immediately
- Report all incidents, near misses or damage immediately
