We're hiring 2 Heavy Equipment Technician, 3/4 Year Apprentices for our truck shop in Fort McMurray at 180 MacLennan Crescent. Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of equipment including Hydrovacs, vacuum trucks, and highway tractors. Work with specialty components like diesel engines, hydraulics, PTOs, vacuum pumps, and burners using great tools in a clean shop. Complete all repairs in house with a mandate to do the work right the first time.

Requirements

  • Must be a registered (On-Road) Apprentice
  • Valid Class 5 licence with no more than 5 demerits in the last 3 years
  • Valid Class 1 or 3 license an asset
  • Weight handling of up to 50 lbs
  • Experience in hydraulic, electrical, and pump systems an asset
  • Able to provide a negative pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Able to provide your own tools
  • Happiest working in a team, sharing a laugh with coworkers and getting the job done safely

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on Hydrovacs, Wet Vacuum, Combo and Water trucks; High Pressure Water Blasting Equipment, Highway tractors and trailers (Peterbilt, Western Star, Kenworth)
  • Conduct ongoing diagnostic and repair of diesel engines & after treatment (Cummins, CAT, Detroit, and John Deere)
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic & PTO systems
  • Service clutches, transmissions & differentials
  • Repair vacuum pump & blower
  • Diagnose & repair burners
  • Conduct Commercial Vehicle Inspections
  • Troubleshoot issues, inspect equipment and replace or repair defective parts
